Welding Machines
Welding Machines, Accessories And Consumables
Arc welding machines use gas in their operation and there are two classifications them – MIG and TIG differing in the type of gas that is used in the operation. MIG or Metal Inert Gas welding uses carbon dioxide, argon gas or a blend of these two gases. TIG (Tungsten Inert Gas) welding uses Tungsten to form an arc between a specific welding material and electrode but argon gas is still used as the inert gas.
The MIG version are by far the most popular choice as they provide a faster means of welding and are more cost effective than the TIG welding machines and methods. MIG is also a more accommodating welding method in that it is the more flexible of the two and allows for the welding of a greater variety of metals and materials. However there are some other arc welding technology and methods that are available on the market.
Spot and shielded metal arc welding machines are generally used for smaller applications. Seam welding is used for joining two components and these machines come in a large variety of options. Flux cored and metal gas arc welding machines are also an option for welding equipment and techniques.
Each of these types comes in a variety of options. The welding machines can be operated using gas or electricity in the form of a power outlet or a powerful battery. The largest of these options are welding machines that have their own generator to create the power necessary for their operation. These larger makes and models are generally trailer mounted to make them portable as they are too large and heavy to be moved by any other means.
There are a wide variety of accessories and consumables that are necessary for use with welding machines. Welding rods and welding wire are required for every type of welding process. Safety gear is also necessary for the protection of the welding machine operator. Welding helmets are not optional and protect the welder’s eyes from the bright light as well as particles that could damage the face.
Thermal gloves and clothing are also important to prevent burns to the operator during the welding process. Welding clamps, hammers and other accessories can be very useful in making the process much more convenient and efficient.
